![]() ![]() ![]() A boy of seventeen being best friends with a three-year-old girl.” ![]() “I remember my mom saying she’s never seen a friendship like this, like ours. An insanely hot, panty melting worthy read. Guys My Age is the first story in the Mixtape: A Love Song Anthology and she went out with a BANG! This story is about Fallon “Tiny” and Dean. Review for “Guys my Age” by Saffron A Kent The song doesn’t really fit the story because Fallon hasn’t had any experience with guys her age to have any knowledge of what they are like. The mental health of mother and daughter is mentioned in a way as to excuse their infatuations with much older men and justify the way each man is said to ‘take care’ of the object of their affection except it is creepily parent/childlike. Add to this the completely inappropriate relationship of Fallon’s parents which began when her mother was his patient in a psychiatric hospital and it’s no wonder Fallon fixates on Dean. But their 14-year age gap is an issue and once we switch to Dean’s POV things take a decidedly predatory, sinister turn with the way he thinks/inner monologues about three-year-old Fallon and grown Fallon. ![]() If this had stayed in Fallon’s POV, perhaps it would have worked. I wanted to like this because I completely empathize with Fallon’s love for someone out of her reach, we’ve all been there once or twice right? When Fallon was three she proposed to then 17-year-old Dean and she has wanted to be with him ever since. Guys My Age follows Fallon and Dean as they undertake a road trip home. ![]()
